The Zetter Townhouse
Two connecting Georgian houses on cobbled (or, in case you're wearing high heels, limped) St John's Square, Clerkenwell, only opposite sister hotel The Zetter. As far as anyone knows enlivened by Dickens' London and specifically the gin refineries for which this part of the city was once known. The doodad filled gathering/mixed drink relax/breakfast room is, if not precisely Dickensian, at any rate chock-a-piece loaded with crazy dramatization and occurrence. Plonk yourself down on a velvet couch and request a Twinkle (a Champagne-and-elderflower mixed drink served in a fragile Victorian woodwind) and tapas-style bitings by Bruno Loubet (his famous brasserie is in the neighboring Zetter). Upstairs, rooms are outfitted with recovered and vintage furniture and mahogany four-notices.
