Mondrian London

Mondrian London

Creator Tom Dixon proceeded steam ahead with the sea subject here, changing Ocean Holders House, an extraordinary chunk of an office expanding on the south bank of the Thames, into a hotel that is intended to look like a transoceanic liner. A transoceanic liner, notwithstanding, that additionally references Craftsmanship Deco, Pop Workmanship and disco, and that makes expressive utilization of an unmistakably non-nautical palette (velvet banquettes in mimosa-yellow, closets in bubblegum pink, staff regalia in child blue). Outside, there's Tate Present day to one side, Shakespeare's Globe on your right side, and all of London apparently spread out before you underneath the overhang of the hotel's splendid, brazen housetop Uproar bar.
