Dukes
Essentially covered up down a scarcely existent rear way between St James' Road and Green Stop. For all intents and purposes covered up is the way they like it here. Quieted, circumspect, comfortable and English - yet in no way, shape or form serious, stuffy or stuck-up. How might anybody stay serious, stuffy or stuck-up after a martini splendidly arranged by Alessandro Palazzi in one of the best bars on the substance of the earth? This was as far as anyone knows where Ian Fleming initially imagined James Bond requesting his most loved drink 'shaken, not mixed'. Nigel Mendham's storm cellar eatery Thirty-Six is delightful; so is the completely unforeseen blast of shading in the PJ Relax champagne bar alongside it.
